David Kushner - Cover Album

Artist freelance work — Entries and concepts for Artist David Kushner new album called “daylight” will release in April 2023. He has inspired me for so long and has loved my work so far. Working to feel the music, his background, his style of music and previous artwork as well as similar artists in his genres. I admire and adore working in the music industry, deep passion for cover art has to be my favourite client briefs.

Who was the client?

David Kushner is a musician that recently released the new arrival of his new album coming soon called “Daylight”, he is asking for open commissions and I delivered to him a number of concepts he well received and will be letting me know of the selection on the 12th of April 2023.

What was the theme?

The theme focuses on the past and personal path of finding light where difficult times arise, the album brings focus on his indie style of music that reflects an authenticity that is about growth and life journeys,. The interesting aspect is all submissions are to be taken from how this “light” can be seen from the darkness.

How did I approach these concepts?

Based on his previous work and creative preferences in the style of music and current album covers, I looked at composition with similar style of music such as Bon Iver and Hozier. The natural theme is present and can Be often seen in Indie and sometimes country or acapella style of music. This can be reflected in many of my concepts, all photographs and materials are raw materials I have captured.

What softwares did I use?

I used photoshop, illustrator and Procreate to acquire all details and edits.

What was my favourite and why?

The DVD album cover, the direct link to his music and bringing light using natural surroundings from one of the other concepts added. The direct use of two individuals being light for each other brings a personal relationship to his song “daylight”.  His music has brought light and a source of authenticity that can be felt and personalised to those who hear his music. This is the connection I was building with the following album cover.
